Adding Potash Jobs in Canada – 3,300 Employees By 2014

At PotashCorp, we’re expanding our operations to meet a growing global need for fertilizer. As a result, we’re creating jobs at our potash mines in Canada.

Over the next three years, we expect to add almost 800 positions at our potash facilities in Saskatchewan and New Brunswick. Add to this some 300 employees expected to retire over the same period and you can see how we are impacting the communities where we operate. more

PotashCorp a Presence in Lanigan

The final story of a multi-part series, looking at how PotashCorp’s expansion projects benefit the communities that host our operations.

Bernie Bishop is thrilled to see Lanigan’s population rising.

Although PotashCorp’s $410 million expansion project at its nearby mine and mill was completed in 2008, the community’s mayor says the benefits of the investment continue to have an impact. Thanks to new jobs, the town is again starting to grow into the large community it once was. more

Saskatoon: Strengthening a city through investment

In Part Four of a multi-part series, we look at how PotashCorp’s expansion projects benefit the communities that host our operations.

It’s not a stretch to say that Saskatoon is the envy of the potash world. It’s home to PotashCorp headquarters and sits between two company mines — Cory to the west and Patience Lake to the east.

In 2009, a two-year, $110 million expansion was completed at the Patience Lake solution mine, located just a few kilometers outside city limits. At Cory – also just few minutes’ drive from Saskatoon – a $1.6 billion expansion project remains underway. Set to add two million tonnes of annual operational capability to the facility (for a total of 2.7 million tonnes), this project is expected to be complete in 2012 and begin its ramp-up. more

Creating Opportunities for Aboriginal People

PotashCorp Bringing Opportunity to Sussex

In Part Three of a multi-part series, we look at how PotashCorp’s expansion projects benefit the communities that host our operations.

Ralph Carr felt like a kid on Christmas morning when PotashCorp announced a $1.7 billion expansion of its New Brunswick potash mine in 2007.

The mayor of the Town of Sussex said a cloud of economic concern was hanging over the community before the company announced its plans to replace the existing 800,000 tonne mine with a new 2-million-tonne facility. more

PotashCorp Helping Rocanville Grow

In Part Two of a multi-part series, we look at how PotashCorp’s expansion projects benefit the communities that host our operations.

There are a lot of ways Rocanville has changed since PotashCorp began a $2.8 billion expansion project at its nearby mine in 2007.

Daryl Fingas, mayor of the southeastern Saskatchewan community, can list them all. But for him, the one thing that stands out among the crowd is, well, the crowd. “There are people everywhere,” Fingas said proudly. “Main Street seems to always be full. It’s tough to find a (parking) spot any day of the week.” more

“Building Big” – Part Two

Setting Records at Rocanville, Allan and New Brunswick

In Part One of the “Building Big” series, we took a look at PotashCorp’s Cory potash mill, the largest of its kind in the world. But the Cory mill isn’t the only part of our potash expansions that is setting records.

At Rocanville, the 500,000 tonne storage facility that is under construction will be one of the world’s largest buildings. The facility, which will have capacity to hold approximately 30-days of production at Rocanville following the expansion, is a critical element of our supply chain. That capacity would fill 4,854 potash railcars, which would stretch for 68 kilometers (43 miles) across the prairie! more

PotashCorp Is Growing: The Opportunity is Mine

A job is a good thing, but a career is even better.

At PotashCorp, we expect to increase the number of employees at our potash operations to more than 3,000 by 2015 — that’s nearly double our 2006 employee total of 1,664. more

Saskatchewan’s Newest Boomtown – Part Three

Feeding Workers, Feeding Economy at Rocanville Accommodation

Note: this post is Part Three in a series on the Rocanville contractor accommodation facilities.

The nearly 1,400 contractors working on PotashCorp’s Rocanville expansions (approximately 1,000 of which stay at our contractor accommodation facility) go through a lot of eggs in an average week – 750 dozen, to be exact! more
